Soul Splinter
About Us

Soul Splinter is a name settled upon after incalculable discussion, negotiation, lobbying and exhaustion of the democratic process. It does, though, well represent the fractured nature of our loves, loyalties, devotions and desires. We four have been improbably and inexorably linked at a time in our lives when we had left the dreams of creative invention and expression locked away in the time vaults of our minds to move on with the realities of family, career and mid-life.

Steve and Dave have been playing together for many years – Steve playing the part of inventive, improvisational guitar hero (mine at least), and Dave nimbly adapting, enhancing and solidifying their dalliances and musical forays. They were linked to a wonderfully magnetic personality in the form of Eric – “The King of Karma” – through a shared vocation. Eric played auxiliary percussion and sang with the dynamic duo as they honed tastes and skills largely for their own benefit (save for the occasional foray into local talent shows and such). I was linked to Eric for the last 20 years as former schoolmates and dedicated post-prime athletes. Eric, the karmic center of Soul Splinter’s universe suggested we all get together and kick some things around - and the result was at once unexpectedly familiar. In short order we were starting to put together licks, lyrics, hooks and vocals that made us all reservedly giddy over the possibilities. As it turns out, Splintered – but not fractured – are our collective loves, loyalties, devotions and desires.

As a result of this confluence of events, we are emerging as a bluesy, funky, country, alternative rock band. We hope you enjoy the ride.

Our band is made of:

Steve Chawla: Lead Guitar, Rhythm Guitar
Dave Daniels: Bass, Back-Up vocals
Eric Crabill: Auxiliary Percussion, Back-Up Vocals
Chris DeBoard: Lead Vocals, Drums, Keyboards
